Welcome to the Interpersonal Relations and Motivation Research Group website. Our laboratory is located in the Heyne Building within the Department of Psychology at the University of Houston. We study close relationships and health from a variety of perspectives. For example, how do individuals’ beliefs about relationships guide how they think, feel, and behave in close relationships? How do people become attached to close relationships in unhealthy ways? What ways of being motivated can reduce or even eliminate interpersonal defensiveness? Our research involves laboratory experiments, surveys, and longitudinal diary methods. Thank you for visiting this website.
