One objective of the program is to research areas that are relevant to the prevention and control of adolescent substance use, sexual risk taking, and related problems in behavioral medicine and/or health psychology. This includes the social psychological deterrents of smoking in adolescents, prevention of AIDS in adolescents, interventions to effect adolescent health promotion, and increasing compliance or adherence in health enhancement behaviors.
